Empowered Voices – Meeting the Moment
By Nicholas Chassagnez, ETA Program Assistant
Last year, the ETA team and I spent time reflecting on what it truly means to be part of Empowering the Ages. As we listened to feedback from volunteers, participants, partners, and families, one thing became clear: our work is about more than running programs. It is about meeting people where they are and responding to the needs of our community.
That idea inspired this year’s overall social media theme: Meeting the Moment.
Throughout the year, we’ll share stories that highlight the values guiding our work, from determination and innovation to resilience and transparency. These themes are more than just words. They reflect how ETA makes decisions, builds partnerships, and creates opportunities for people of all ages. For example, being determined means helping children enter kindergarten with confidence through our School Readiness programs. Being innovative means creating new opportunities for students and older adults to learn from one another through our Community Empowerment programs. Being responsive means listening to our community and equipping students with the skills and support they need to succeed through our Workforce Development programs.
Every month, we’ll explore one of these values and show how it comes to life through the people who make ETA what it is. Whether it’s a volunteer mentoring a child, a student gaining financial literacy skills, or an older adult finding new purpose through meaningful connections, each story reflects our commitment to empowering every generation.
As ETA continues to grow, these themes remind us not only of what we do, but why we do it. Every challenge presents a new opportunity to serve, connect, and strengthen our community. Whatever the moment calls for, we are committed to meeting it together.
