We are deeply saddened to announce the death of ETA Board Member Kofi Frempong, who passed suddenly on Wednesday, April 5.
Kofi served as a dedicated member of ETA’s board of directors since our founding. With his passion for fitness and community, he created and chaired ETA’s Light A Spark event with contagious enthusiasm each year. He was an invaluable partner in developing and implementing our civic engagement work with students at John F. Kennedy High School’s Leadership Training Institute, where he worked for years as program coordinator. But more than all of that, Kofi was a dear and longtime friend.
We will continue to be inspired by Kofi’s tireless dedication to his students and his commitment to the value of empowering them and connecting them with older adults and their community.
We know this news will come as a shock to those of you who knew Kofi through the ETA community. We too are devastated and are collecting our thoughts as we comprehend this tragic loss. We will update you as plans develop to celebrate Kofi’s legacy of compassion and commitment to all of us and those we serve at ETA.
Information about funeral arrangements is posted here.
Our heartfelt sympathy to the many people of all ages whose lives Kofi touched, to the Kennedy High School community, and in particular to his wife and children.
